We went down to the place where two creeks meet and walked around. It's so cool here in the summer when it's pushing 110 everytwhere else...

But today I felt like I wanted an extra jacket.

The theme for this weekend seemed to be sunlight in layers, either sunny things with shade behind or shadey things with a layer of sun coming in from behind.

A couple of pictures in the walk down to river category have this as well.

A tree right next to where we parked was hosting a ladybug orgy. Clumps of ladybugs were all over the tree and the ground nearby. (comments and photo)

Horsetail ferns have those little jagged black rings around them that give the horizontal spikeyness a nice complexity that you can't se in this photo. Sorry.

I still like the sun on the blades and the stump that looks like a ship or some crouching animal. (comments and photo)

I just loved the perspective here and the angles of the path played against the ferns and tree trunks. (comments and photo)

I love this rock. I've been wanting to photograph it for about a year (shows how exciting my life is!) Usually we can walk right up to it. The kids like it too. The moss makes it very friendly. Today it's sitting in cold water. (comments and photo)
