waterfall

This was toward the bottom of the trail... (comments and photo)

the trail

You can kind of tell how steep the land is around here. There are flat areas near the river but this trail runs through the hills where you are always either going up or down.

more bent trees

Usually trees fight to grow upright, but the tops of these bend downhill.

This shot is looking across the slope. It's steeper than it looks, you're actually looking past the trees at the other side of the ravine, which is why the ground further away rises to fill the picture plain in such a short distance. (comments and photo)

looking down the ravine

In addition to bowing downhill, the trees bend inward toward the center of the ravine. (comments and photo)

looking up the ravine

This is looking upwards at a pretty steep angle at a series of waterfalls. The creek is a waterfall for at least half of its descent here.

water rocks moss

Here the creek actually falls over a large rock. The rocks are sort of bluish, the moss is bright green and all the trees are covered with it, and the fallen leaves are red and brown. An almost surreal mix of colors. (comments and photo)
